Minister Kenney launches national consultations on immigration levels and mix

Calgary, July 12, 2011 — Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney has launched a series of cross-country consultations on immigration issues, beginning today in Calgary.

The Minister is meeting with stakeholders and the public to discuss the important issue of immigration levels and mix. Following the Calgary session today, the Minister will meet with stakeholders in Vancouver on July 18, Toronto on July 20 and Montreal on July 22. Online consultations will take place later this summer and will be open to the public.

The purpose of the consultations is to seek feedback on immigration levels, including the appropriate level of immigration for Canada, and the most suitable mix between economic, family class and protected persons. Discussions on system management to provide improved services, such as reasonable processing times, and addressing issues such as fraud, will also be included.

In planning for the total number of people to admit as permanent residents, CIC not only balances immigration objectives but also considers several other factors, including broader government commitments, input from provinces and territories, and current and future economic conditions. The Department must also consider its operational ability to process applications in a timely manner, as well as the capacity of communities to welcome newcomers.

In addition to presenting an opportunity to gather input from stakeholders and the public on key questions facing CIC, the consultations also allow the Department to share with stakeholders and the public some of the considerations and difficult choices involved in managing a global immigration system.

The consultations present an important opportunity to generate greater understanding of the trade-offs involved in setting immigration levels. There are competing visions and diverging goals for the future of the immigration program, and there is no single right answer on what the focus should be. Engaging stakeholders and the broader public in that conversation is a key part of developing a plan that will work for Canada going forward.

Invited stakeholders represent a variety of perspectives, including those of employers, labour, academia, learning institutions, professional organizations, business organizations, regulatory bodies, municipalities, settlement provider organizations and ethnocultural organizations.

A report on the consultations will be available on the CIC website once stakeholder and public consultations have been completed.

More information about the online consultations will be available on the CIC website in the coming weeks. Interested participants may sign up online at www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/consultations/index.asp.

Sorry for the confusion explorer976, the VO that I chose is New Delhi. Last year I was planning on picking London as my VO, but couldn't make it before the CAP closed, so sent my application this year and chose New Delhi instead (based on the responses/recommendations from forum members). Hopefully, its a better choice. I had both choices- London (on the basis of country of residence) and New Delhi (on the basis of country of citizenship).

yes there should be employment contract. IMO, not all agencies are knowledgeable abt what they do, i have had a very terrible experience w/ an agency, good thing there is this forum w/c is very helpful and free compared to the exorbitant fees that agencies ask :o

I will try to answer, BUT, I personally think, that you are not ready (Document wise), but, rest is your choice :)

1) Biggest issue : I'm an Indian but currently working in south africa and most prob going back in mid-aug , so which VO i should mention ?? becasue PCC and residential address i'm providing from south africa.

You should add a cover letter explaining and choose India as your Visa office.

2) I dont have transcript for my UG although i will manage scanned image of my MBA's transcipt.. I know it should be in sealed envelope etc but taking that risk as i cant manage hard copy here.

Will not work, you need Transcripts in Sealed Uni envelops. Many debate that it will work, but, no one has confirmed. IF you go through this forum (google search) you will see some were refused due to lack of Transcripts, or were not awarded points accordingly.

3) For my UG i will be sending copies of all marksheets and degree (thank god they are in english)

Notorized copies of your Degress/Mark sheets ( Check your visa office list as well)

4) Will it be ok if I just provide screen shot of my account at 3 banks ( 2 indian and 1 SA)?

Try at least to get 1-2 Bank account statements, ALSO, if you Print online, attach the Bank/Branch contact details for verification purposes.

5) No idea how to get my docs notorised here?

Neither do I :)...but its a requirement and has to be fulfilled.

6) I gave my IELTS on 9th , so can apply before 24th ? what do you say do i still have chance?

You need to include IELTS test result (ORIGINAL) with the Application, no other way

7) Experience certificate : 1st Job - i'm providing scanned letter, for 2nd Job - i have orginals with me and 3rd job - i cant provide :-(.. but again all will not be notorised :-(

Get yourself Experience Letters from current employee at least. THEY will not consider experience points and will award you points according to the proof you provide them. Try getting Original Experience letters for the number of years you MUST claim, your salary details (so that it is proved that you are getting paid for those jobs), notarized copies of contract are also asked.

8) My daughter passport is still under process in indian embassy, so is it ok if just mention applied for??

As per Check List you Have to include passport copies. Another reason, the details are to be written ON APPLICATION AS WELL. Your application will be refused as incomplete and returned without processing if you leave a Column/s blank.

one more thing, will it be ok if i give a cover note/decalaration having reason for above mentioned issue?? and i will not have any issue to provide of the documents (Notorised/original) after 1.5 month . and i will be responsible for any false info (I'm confident because because all my documents are genuine)

NOPE, application has to be complete when it reaches CIO

Thanks for your time..I'm trying to get few more docs to remove these issues.. thanks once again
