I"m sorry to tell you that from my experience it's ALMOST impossible to find a job from outside CA, because people (specially immigrants) from inside are suffering to find a job in their profession!

The best way to do it is to come here and start a proper job search: Writing a solid Resume` (based on Canadian job market), spread the world with your resume` (job boards, job sites, employment agencies ..etc), then look for opportunities and apply. Remember to modify your resume` every time you apply to a job to match and focus your skills with the job requirements.

However, networking is #1 effective way to fins a job ... because a BIG percentage of the opportunities in Canada is NOT announced, companies rely on word of mouth and referrals to hire because obviously it's more trustful.

Anyway I will write much more details about job search techniques and will tell you how could I get a job in my profession (IT Project Manager) in Canada 2 months after landing in my blog: www.immigrationexpertise.com

Cheers,
Nabil

Argggggh! To say it's FRUSTRATING to try to find an employer willing to sponsor somebody outside Canada for a work permit is putting it mildly. I've been trying THREE YEARS to get somebody to give me a job and I am a qualified welfare worker with 2 degrees! I've been trying in Saskatoon which I'm told is in dire need of workers in most areas so "WHAT THE????"

I actually spent one year in Canada (Saskatoon) and was offered 2 jobs but when I told them I needed them to fill out the required paperwork to allow me to have a work permit they said, "Oh, we don't do that." Further, one employer was actually willing and phoned them saying he wanted to hire me on the spot only to be thwarted at every turn (didn't have enough employees, hadn't advertised long enough, hadn't advertised in the right places, couldn't offer me enough working hours). HRDC really need to change their requirements so people and employers don't have to jump through hoops like circus animals. It's as plain as the nose on your face that something is obviously amiss with the whole process!

So now I have to work three more years to gain enough points to apply for PR (I'm a single person so can't count partner's points which I also think needs re-considering - separate categories).

I even wrote to the Prime Minister of Canada and the Mayor of Saskatoon about this issue and was fobbed off by the Prime Minister's little helper with an email that they'd send my concerns to HRDC - the very people who seem to cause the hold-ups!

So that's my experience. Wish I could tell you something more positive.

Canadian job market sucks.. they have mainly banking & financial jobs which are white collar..
if you are in india and US dont expect highly paid jobs in canada even though you have PR.

there is not direct way to get job offer letter approved by HRDC but there are some desi comanies/body shoppers who charges your like 5-10k USD or 2/3 lakh indian rupees and give you job offer letter .. but its not worth bkoz after paying this amount you will be in canada but not going to get job.

it might be frustrating but it is true.. except your are doctor/physico..

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
If you are a doctor, you would have major licencing issues if you moved to Canada. Not sure about physio. The thing is, Canada wants skilled immigrants, they take the cream of the crop from other countries and when you get here and try to get a job, everybody tells you you don't have Canadian education and you don't have Canadian experience. However, it's a land of opportunities. You have to be flexible both to go where the jobs are and shift your career or even get into something completely different if you have to. Of course it's all up to you though. If you want to move or not.

In my understanding, Professions in Canada are two main kinds: Regulated and non-regulated, most healthcare jobs are regulated and I think other like engineers and so.. check NOC website for details.
If you wanna work in a regulated profession contact the regulatory body and do the certification process, in most cases you can do that before coming to Canada which will save time and its much easier to do the paper work while in your country ( college transcript, letters of experience and so..).
When you are certified by the regulatory body then its much more easier to find a job in your profession. because certification by the regulatory body means that you are equivelant to the Canadian credentials. In my case for example ( Medical Laboratory Technologist) I found the job once I got certified even I don't have Canadian experience.

Hope this helps
