Due to security clearance processing times at Canada House, registration for the Canada's East Coast: Career Opportunities Expo closes at 17:00 on Thursday, October 13th.
YOU MUST REGISTER BEFORE THAT TIME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR INVITATION.
People who are residents in the UK will be invited first. Google 'Canada's East Coast: Career Opportunities Expo' for the registration page (this site doesn't allow me to post URLs).
The Provinces of NB, NS & PEI are represented, plus employers.
Jobs include: Software Engineer, Project Manager, Baker, Truck Driver, Family Physician, 2D Animator, Restaurant Manager (KFC, Burger King, Pizza Hut), iOS Developer, Registered Nurse, Glass Laminator, Electrical Systems Engineer, Talent Acquisition Specialist (I think that means recruitment consultants as well), Mechanic, .Net Team Lead, Vice President Supply Chain, Android Developer, Business Analyst, Vice President – Hedge Fund Operations, Executive Assistant, Marine Systems Engineer and many other jobs that are listed on the website.
Provincial reps who coordinate the PNP programmes will be there. They are the people who can get you the job to make the move. Whilst there will be employers there, these Provincial reps are actually recruiting for many other roles, so don't be put off if you don't see your chosen employer there. You should take a few paper copies of your CV. I would say that even if you don't see your job listed, and you're pretty sure your skills are in demand in the Atlantic Provinces, it's still worth attending.
The weekend is divided into 4 sessions.
Sat 10:00-12:30
Sat 14:00-16:30
Sun 10:00-12:30
Sun 14:00-16:30
I would choose a Sunday slot as they're going to be less busy and you'll be able to speak to more people for longer.
If you're bringing your partner, and most people will, you'll need to put their full name and DOB in to be able to clear security. I can understand this as Canada House is a bit of a special place.
If you're resident outside of the UK there's not a great chance that you'll be invited, but you can still apply for the jobs that are listed and the Provinces recruit loads of people this way. If you're in the UK you should try and get along as I believe that at previous Expos attendance of such events can sometimes give you extra points towards your visa. Don't hold me to that though!
Good luck!
