I am an IT Consultant worked in US for 7+ years, was here in Canada ON BENCH for 5+ months with 2 or 3 calls every week which included many face to face interviews(NO phonic), Canadian employers wants to see who they are appointing before they give offer letter(too many fraud companies are reported and make news every day), (Used to take 1 hour subway ride to get them)Many HR rounds, Manager rounds, Technical Lead rounds, Architect rounds (they make you feel as if you don't know what you have done so far but they want some one who can do what they want)...Got frustrated and applied in Tim's/MC got an offer letter in less than 12 hours....Canada wants Labor not Software/Hardware employees.
TCS, Wipro, Accenture, CGI, IBM....are here in Canada and offer 8 to 10% less than what Canadian companies offer and make you work like a 3rd class citizen who reports to collage grad from Indian college.
Current Market is dead, it might pick up some time in Feb or March but don't expect to be a supercharged market (economy experts think Canada economy may go down dramatically which will have direct affect on Job Market).....Additionally starting Jan 2015 Express Entry is being introduced for more competition.
If US is land of opportunity, Canada is land of competition..... expect to get paid 25% less than in US if you ever worked in US.
This is my personal opinion....
