Hello Experts,

I am planning to apply for CEC next month and in the process of collecting all the documents. I am worried that under which NOC I am should apply.

Job title (Also Listed in NOC) mentioned in my work permit does not match with job title listed in my Offer Latter given by Company and more over this, job title mentioned in offer latter does not appear in NOC list.

I need help on this regard that under which NOC I should apply. Based on my current job responsibilities, I qualify under NOC A-2173.

Thanks for your time and response.

The titles listed in the NOC are examples. Your title doesn't have to match exactly. As long as your responsibilities are similar to what's listed under 2173, you should be fine.

What is the NOC (not job title) listed on your work permit?

Sorry for late resposne !!!

NOC code on my WP is 2174 and I am working in my current company on 2173. Weird thing is that I have never filled the form for WP and all WP related documentation is done by my company. So looks like they have applied for WP under 2174 NOC code while I am working under 2173. Dont know why.

So I am now confused under which NOC code I should apply for PR. Need your opinion on this.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

2173 and 2174 are very similar. They're both highly skilled; if your WP had a high-skill NOC and your job had a low-skill NOC, or vice versa, you'd have a problem.

IIRC, you don't give an NOC when you apply; CIC decides what NOC to put on your work pemit based on the job title and description. Coding 2173 as 2174, or vice versa, is pretty reasonable since the titles and descriptions are very similar.

Unless your job duties can't be made to fit 2174, I would just write 2174 on your application. I don't see why there would be a problem.

I agree with Def's advice - just put 2174 on the application (but write your actual job duties). If you're an IT professional, yes, 2174 and 2173 may be very different, but not a big difference in the case of the CIC application.

I had a total of 3 work permits but 2 different NOCs (both skill level A). HRSDC assigned a different code to the middle one. No problems...

Hi guys, please advise on my below query:

My Work permit doesn't have NOC code in it but the application submitted by my company has NOC 2171 in it. The job title mentioned in WP by CIC has 'Software Architect' which falls under example title of another NOC which is 2173. But in my Express entry I have mentioned it as per my WP application which is NOC 2171 and also current reference letter from employer has duties related to NOC 2171. Is it good?
