Rule of thumb: if you receive a job offer without applying for the job, it's fake. Canadian companies would have to go through a lengthy process of LMIA application to prove that they cannot find a Canadian citizen or PR to do the job. The LMIA will cost the company CAD$1K. So, why would a company offer a job to a non-citizen/PR who did not apply to them?
Also, when you apply for a job, you research about the company first. So that during interview you can answer them should they ask you what you know about their company and why do you want to work for them.
