Hi,

I hope I got the right place to ask regarding this issue. I just got an email job offer from Frank H. Sobey and family, and tried searching if this sounds scam and found no results.

(A) A private accommodation with a furnished sitting room and bedrooms suitable for a family of 3.
(B) A Fixed land phone and an Internet ready computer.
(c) Free Feeding
(D) Free transport
(E) Free medical care
(F)A day off every week and all fully paid four weeks vacation in a year

WORKING HOURS:
You will be working from 8am to 1pm in the morning and from 2pm to 6pm in
the evenings everyday respectively.
Maximum Salary: $ xxx CAD per month
Weekly Allowance: 200 CAD
Job Type: Contract: 2 years

He told me that I need to pay my own visa in Canadian embassy in Phils, and later be refunded when in Canada. Also attached employment application form \on-line interview form.

Do you see it as a real offer or just a scam?

I would appreciate for your inputs. Btw, this is in Montreal Quebec area.

Please do understand that I am doing this due to my past experience whereby I paid for visa/work permit and ticket fees and my employee turn me down,causing me to loose my money with no refund. Do not accept this contract if you cannot afford to pay for your visa fee to the Canada embassy in your country when needed for your visa processing. Get back to me with a copy of your international passport if you accept the terms and condition so we can proceed further .

Looks like a scam even though the address is genuine maybe the giveaway is not just being referred to as Sobeys http://nourrissezvosambitions.ca/contact/ What was the senders email address for example.

What exactly is the job that provides free everything, a salary AND 200 weekly allowance AND 4 weeks vacation where a company needs to employ internationally in retail i assume. Maybe a case of if sounds to good to be true then it is and should be avoided. Do they recommend some specific visa agency behind this email ?

I have no way like you to decide if this is a scam or not other than what is being offered far exceeds anything any company would likely offer for the jobs listed. Plus maybe a question should be asked that a company like Sobeys that employs in excess of 125000 people would they really use a GMAIL account and not a corporate domain email such as @SOBEYS.COM

Also looking at the Sobeys job site they do not list anything currently in Quebec and certainly no jobs with such attractive benefits plus mentioning maybe French could be useful to work in Quebec https://jobs.sobeyscareers.com/go/Corporate-Jobs/1347400/

Others will likely comment and make some conclusions but just be wary on following up and ask a lot of questions before you do anything or maybe even apply . Maybe even create a profile on the Sobeys corporate job site see what happens that route whether they respond they are not offering internationally.

By the way Frank H Sobey died a while ago although of course could be a junior Frank but why when the website is simply SOBEYs make an effort to sound like a family operation not corporate as per their website and make any offer simply as SOBEYS but maybe the gmail account of the original contact is a clue plus the extraordinary benefits that this is likely not a genuine offer.
