Hi there,

I graduated from the University of Calgary in October and am working for the city of calgary permantly from November. I filled the EE Online application on the 3rd, but got no points for my job offer and canadian education. I am holding a post-graduation work permit, therefore, my employer's name is not on the work permit. When filling the form, it asked me to register Job Bank. I registered and indicated I already got job offer, but there still no change of my points. Is there anybody know what is going on there? Whom should I contact about this issue? Thanks!

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
PGWP does not qualify for a valid job offer. You are not eligible for those 50 points.

Regarding Canadian education. What were your answers for the following questions.

1 -Was this degree, diploma or certificate:
from a public post-secondary school, such as a college, trade/technical school, university or CEGEP (in Quebec)
from a private post-secondary school that operates under the same rules as public schools
a diplôme d'études professionnelles (DEP) or an attestation de spécialisation professionnelle (ASP) earned through a qualifying study program of at least 900 hours from a private school in Quebec, or
a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree from a Canadian private school that can legally award degrees under provincial law. (The student must have been enrolled in a study program that led to a degree as set out by the province.)
Help

2 - Was more than half the study program English or French as a second language courses?

3 - Did XXX study in Canada based on an award that required them to go back to their home country to apply their knowledge and skills? This includes some awards from Global Affairs Canada.

The answer for #2 is wrong. It is asking whether half of your courses were ESL or FSL courses (courses designed for you to learn or improve your English/French) - answer should be "no". This is why you haven't received your points for Canadian education.

Again, PGWP do not qualify as a valid offer of employment as they are open work permits. In other to have a valid job offer you need to have a employer specific work permit which is LMIA exempt. Such is not the case with your current work permit. You will obviously get points for Canadian work experience once you complete one year of work experience but no 50 points for you.

Cheers :)

A job offer without an LMIA is not worth any points. Having a job and being in Canada does not help express entry. You can get points from your job experience, though. I am in a similar situation as you. I suggest you consider answering "no" to the offer question since it will save you a lot of headache after ITA. I answered yes and although I said I don't have an LMIA I am still required to submit a qualifying offer of employment. Quite a ridiculous process

Thanks for the reply. Is there anything I can do to change that? Will I still get additional points(80) for my job? Do you think if I need to consider provincial normination? thanks

To get arranged employment points, you'd need to be holding a work permit that lists your employer's name. I think the only way for you to accomplish that would be to have your employer obtain an approved LMIA so that you can get a closed work permit with your employer's name.

Expert - How long does it take to show your points for the Canadian Education after updating it?

It's not easy and most likely not possible. I suggest either working for one year so that you can get more points for Canadian experience or consider the provincial nominee programs.

Improve your language test scores. How much foreign work experience do you have?

I changed my answer for #2 to NO and re-submit my application. My score didn't change though. It's still at 438. I really need the additional 30 points. Is there a number I can call?

Also my first language is English. If I take the French language test, do you know which one I should take and what score I need to get more points? Thank you.

Hello everyone! I activated my profile yesterday and was expecting the additional 50 points. But I just realized it did not show up as I am on the PGWP.

Then I looked at the IRCC website and found that From January 1, 2015 to November 19, 2016, jobs offers that didn’t need an LMIA were not considered valid for Express Entry. We now accept certain job offers that don’t need an LMIA

Here is the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1009&top=29

Can anyone please interpret what it means?

Thanks!
