Hi all

I had been to this job fair. it was a humbug. don't know who is cheating the govt who invite FSW and eat their money or the CIIP who advertise like this and persuade us to go such places. total waste of time, money and energy. no effective method for job search in CANADA. all the employment service center are a big waste of time.

message for future immigrants never come with a notion that you will get jobs so easily here except for labour. all your degrees and work exps better keep safe at your home country no value for it.

by and large nobody takes the responsibility of making the immigrants feel comfortable here in any way. NOT TO HURT ANYBODY POSTED WITH A CONCERN FOR FOLLOWERS / IMMIGRANTS

100% correct - these fairs are waste of time especially for new immigrants!

Another trick which banks have adopted is to be part of such job-fairs and ask new immigrants to open bank accounts in their bank. So these fairs are more off a marketing campaign to attract new immigrants money than to give them jobs!

Those who live out of Canada, waiting for their PR/visa process to be completed, can't imagine as 'how Canadian system is' unless they land here & learn.

Most of immigrant community members in Toronto are doing survival-type jobs or surviving on welfare system. Reasons many, but that's fact with few exceptions too. Stories published about the fate of immigrants (PhD driving cabs or working in Tim Horton) are mostly true & reflecting the bad-image of Canadian experience requirement & its consequences.

Some people feel bad to say -back home- while they were highly educated & well settled in their home countries that now in Canada they are 'washing dishes, serving tea/coffee, or become security guards' due to immigration and they don't like to give up their PR status (until get passport).

Canada is land of opportunities but NOT in a sense people think; plenty of white-collar IT jobs, basic food/shelter support from govt, child benefits, social welfare system etc. But the system does not support new immigrants helping them to attain jobs of their field while recognizing their out-of-Canada education and experience!

So that's clear - new immigrant has to start his life, job, experience, even education (assessment) from the scratch. Build up your near future on high grounds. Once you spend your 1st year in Canada -with such hardships- you would sail through and all your past education, experience etc would prevail and finally you end up getting what you had dream before immigration!

And, if you are not willing to take up this hardship in initial days (say 1-2 yrs) then Canada is not a place for you! Or if you can't change your attitude towards the values of Canada such as truth, sincerity, hard work+hardship, decency, help to others etc then you end up in a greater mess!

There are also lots of scam private colleges in those job fairs - who are hunting for new immigrants...trying to convince you that a 1 year diploma priced @ 18000+ CAD will seal the deal and get you a dream job in Canada!!!
