Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding my job experience calculation.

I completed my Master's on 30th June,2016 and started working full time from 4th July, 2016. I applied for my PGWP on 7th July and got that accepted on 28th August, 2016. So, I believe my actual work experience count will start from 28th August up-to now. I also took 21 days paid vacation in between this time and I went outside of Canada.

In summary -

Graduated : 30th June, 2016
Started working full time : 4th July, 2016
PGWP Issued : 28th August, 2016
Vacation Days : 21 days (Paid)

Now my question is, when I will be eligible to apply for Express Entry? Can I take the first ITA available after 28th August or I have to wait longer?

Any suggestion will be highly appreciated. Thank you.

As per your signature, you have a score of 390 so you're gonna have to wait anyways for the next few draws so don't worry about this for now. :D

But the question is, when I should start worrying?

Damn! I'm sorry, I thought you had a score of 390. If you got your WP last year then you don't need to worry at all.
For the vacation thing, I think it shouldn't be a big of a problem.
Even I was gone for vacation for 4-5 weeks during my work permit and it did not create any problem.
My work exp. was from Nov 2015 to Nov 2016 and I had my vacation from Jan 2015 to Feb 2016

Your experience began on July 7 when you applied for PGWP. You were authorized to work under implied status. So you can accept the next ITA.

Reasonable vacation entitlements are permitted to be included in work experience. I have not seen where IRCC defines reasonable, so AFAIK it's determined on a case-by-case basis by VO. Three weeks vacation doesn't seem abnormal. My company policy is two weeks minimum, but I have taken more than that. Probably if you are out of the country for a month or more continuously, you might raise some suspicions.

Thanks picklee. My company policy entitle us to have 3 weeks paid vacation each year and we can't carry forward this days to next year. So, I took that and I was out of country for 21 days continuously.

Then you might ask your employer to also include your vacation entitlement in your experience reference letter.

Although technically you could question whether when the OP who started work on July 4 th 3 days before applying for PGWP whether those 3 days were legal or not. Probably not an issue but not something I guess to highlight anywhere.

I found this in CIC site: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/econ/cec/work.asp

An allowance for a reasonable period of vacation time will generally be made in calculating the period of qualifying work experience (e.g., a two-week period of paid vacation leave within a given 52-week period in which the applicant was engaged in qualifying work experience). An allowance for normal vacation time during a period of qualifying work experience cannot be used as a substitute or proxy for meeting the in-Canada element of the work experience requirement (i.e., work experience obtained outside Canada will not be considered as though the applicant had been on a period of vacation in order to be counted as part of the period of in-Canada work experience).

Its pretty confusing, but looks like work experience earned when outside of Canada wouldn't count!

Anyone would like to explain this from their perspective?

IRCC is pretty clear about when you are permitted to work. OP could work on study permit at the university, but I am not sure if that privilege extends beyond graduation. Just to be safe, it would be smart of the OP to only claim work experience from July 7 onwards because implied status is obvious. Would also be smart to include in the LOE.
