Hi All,

When it comes to CRS points, how is experience calculated?

Say you spent 4 years doin job in NOC 1 and another year in NOC 2. Would points be awarded for 5 years or 4/1?

If I apply for example with NOC 2 for which I have one year experience, would the other 4 years of another NOC be discarded?

All skilled work is counted, even if different NOCs. You just need 1 year of continuous work to qualify.

If you are applying with foreign work experience the points max at 3 years. If it's Canadian experience it maxs at 5 years.

OK so for the CRS application I would choose 3+ and get max points for the years I did?

My worry is that I have 2 years experience with the same company but changed job/department If they are counted seperate Iwould get points for 1 year, but if not I would get points for 2 years, which would give me enough points to be eligible.

All experience will be counted provided you have at least one year continuous work in the NOC you specified.

Thanks all!

So on paper I am a software developer but after 1 year I changed the department (remaining with the same company) and my responsabilities have changed, but on paper I am still shown as the same position. I still do have similair responsabilities but mostly my main focus changed.

How would I apply? 2 Years under the same NOC or 1 year NOC A and 1 year NOC B? My employment papers will show I am still a software developer but I dont want to get into a situation where an Immigration Officer would call and the HR would say the opposite.

you can ask for 2 different letters from your HR if they are happy to provide. if not apply but your original. You wont be judged based on the code. They only look for job duties matching to the code specified in CIC website , and being contacted not sure if they will but since you already working there i don't see any reason for that being rejected.

Thanks once again!

What do you think my prospects are? 2 years work experience, diploma + degree and ielts 8.5?

Any link on the 1 year cec continuous work experience? I have a couple of friends asking questions about the continuous part now. They have different NOCs during the 1 year and was able to claim points for it.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/mi/express-entry.asp

From this link, I couldn't figure out if the 1 year continuous requirement is still needed nor does it mention the experience have to be in one NOC only. Any thoughts?

For CEC work experience DOES NOT have to be continuous.

kryt0n was talking about FSW.

Hi,

I have a query about work experience for the EE-FSWP profile.

I have 2 years work ex in one company after my Engineering as an Analyst which qualifies under NOC A following which I quit to pursue MBA. After my MBA, I have 1.5 years of work ex in a different field in another company which qualifies under NOC 0. None of this experience is in Canada.

Should I show total 3.5 years of work ex or just the 1.5 years that qualifies under NOC 0?
In a post above, its mentioned all work experience is counted irrespective of NOC but I saw this in the CRS tool :
In the last 10 years, how many years of skilled work experience do you have?
It must have been paid, full-time (or an equal amount in part-time), and in only one occupation (NOC skill type 0, A or B).

Pls help.

Thanks

Dear all
My work experience is in 2 different NOC 22 july 2014 to 22 december 2015 (17 months)and 23 January 2017 till date(17 months).I have the reference letters available for the two of them.while making the profile the system asks for only month and year...as a result for 34 months I am awarded 50 points for foreign work experience which are given for 36 months...now I have even got the ITA where I have to apply before 29 September 2018...my foreign work experience would actually get complete 36 months on 23 August 2018...what shall I do???shall I apply on 23 August 2018 or shall I decline it???system has automatically awarded me points for 36 months and it's not my fault as the information I provided is all correct. ..please guide....

For cec work doesn’t have to be continuos neither it has to be in one NOC. As long has u have worked full time 30 hrs/wk or more in 1 year u r fine
