Job descriptions not found on NOC page.

Hi there..

I got the ITA and I am trying to get the ref letters. My NOC is 2171. I am a Management Information System Analyst.

The roles page of NOC says about 2171 as:

The designations

But this do not state what jobs they expect from a Management Information System Analyst.

I am planning to do a wide (global) search on internet to assess the responsibilities of Management Information System Analyst. And I will concise these and match with the roles that I am doing in the organization.


Is this the approach I should be taking as no descriptions are available on NOC site regarding my job??


Please correct me if I am planning incorrectly. ; is there any other things I can do to find the CIC expectation of MIS analyst?

If your job title matches the NOC title you are partially there. What you can do is make a list of the duties you perform on a daily basis, then visit some Canadian job websites and search for jobs with your title. This will give you a good idea of what is expected for this role and most likely will be in line with CIC.

I have the same issue
My job title is in the list, but no duties are mentioned on the website.
What I did:
1. wrote to NOC Unit with my detailed duties asking to help me confirm the NOC;
2. checked jobbank.gc.ca to see which NOC my duties belong to;
3. when submitting e-APR, wrote an explanation of my NOC choice, attaching NOC unit`s email

Submitted my eAPR 2 weeks ago... This is my biggest worry, hope it will work
