Hi all,

I am sponsoring my husband and we are 3 months in after SA. He might need to change jobs - there is a crazy situation with his current employer, where he is not being paid on time.
If he leaves and finds another job, do we have to inform CIC about it? Will it affect our application and processing times?
Our office is Warsaw, husband is from Russia.

Thank you all for your input.

Nope. I was unemployed when we filed the application, then worked for a bit, then quit my job, then moved around three different countries (just travelling) and changed addresses but never bothered informing, because that is not an essential thing. Life doesn't stop after you file the application and minor changes like these has no effect on the process. Just imagine if everyone would be sending the slightest change of information how much more work would it result in for the VO and possibly for your application as well.
If they will need an update, they will ask once they start processing your app.

Hmm, it is true. But don't they do background check on all applicants, not just sponsor?

Of course they do. But your place of employment isn't a thing that they would care much about. The history is more important I believe. Same thing with the address, it's not that they want to know the exact place on earth you inhabit at the moment, as they want to make sure that they can send you correspondence to the address that would guarantee you receiving it. As I move around a lot, I just gave them the address of my parents house, that way I know regardless of where I might be at the moment, the correspondence will reach me through the hands of my parents. Do you get the idea of what I'm trying to say?

It's totally up to you, if you want to warn them, but I haven't warned them about any single move I made past the date of when we sent the application. I would have warned them only with the change of address if my parents would've sold the house and moved. Other than that, I consider not important and that might just slow down your application.

Well, thank you for sharing your point of view. I guess I'm just overthinking this whole process. It worried me that in case they do find out my husband changed jobs, they would ask for updated info, etc. and that would delay our app.
I just wish it all ends soon so I can go back home to Canada with my husband :)

Cheers to that!
