hi,

I would like to know if anyone has tried carrying gold jewellery into canada .

Please let me know if I could hand carry the goods and declare it airport and go , or will I need other requirements.

Thank you

As part of your landing, you will be able to declare personal items being imported to Canada and be exempted from import duties.

As part of your landing procedures, you will need to complete a declaration of items imported.
Sorry I am still confused.
Will they give me a form to declare items on the airport where I will be landing? Right?
And what about pictures of the jewellery?

Yes, we brought jewellery and watches etc. in as part of our 'goods accompanying' declaration.

You will need to list and describe the items of jewellery as well as provide an estimated value for each item in Canadian dollars. You then supply this list as part of your other declared 'goods accompanying'. You do NOT need to complete a specific CBSA form, you give them the list and they fill out the form for you to sign.

We made sure we had photos of each item of jewellery AND a written valuation for each item (others have said this is not required). CBSA didn't even look at photos or valuations, they simply took our list, attached it to one of their forms, got us to sign the form, stamped pretty much every page and handed it to us to keep as proof if asked.

You MUST declare your 'goods accompanying' and 'goods to follow' at the first Canadian airport of landing when flying in from abroad when you 'land as settler' (which may or may not be at the same time you also 'land to declare PR' depending on whether or not you are doing a 'soft landing' first). You have that one and only chance to do this.

Hi, I have a question as my agent is confusing me. I was told that I can get it with me during my first landing and not be charges any duty. But later she said that if suppose in future I plan to sell it then I would have to pay duty on it. Is this right?
what if I plan to sell a few and buy something else with the same money would there be duty?
How would they know if I have sold it or no? would I have to declare it in my returns every year or so.
Really need help here as I am confused
