Japanese police clearance

As I understood when sponsoring a Japanese spouse the person you are sponsoring needed their koseki and their kaiseigen tohon. My wife believes she needs a japanese police clearance as well?

Could anyone point me in the right direction as to what official documents she needs with our application package?

Has anyone else had experience sponsoring a japanese national in canada?

On the checklist under the police certificate section there is a link that will tell you what the police check requirements are. I just submitted an outland application for my Japanese spouse. We did not include the police certificate as per the instructions found at the link. I would recommend you check out the checklist and the link as I am not an expert.

However I was unclear. Does this police clearance need to be included with the initial application? Or can we apply and send it after?

I've read other experiences where it is asked for afterwards?
