It's so strange seems like Jan applications just paused after citizenship test. No updates in the past few weeks. Has anyone here reached out to IRCC to get some context? Now the tracker is broken too.

If the application is that old, from what I understand, your application most likely got flagged for discrepancy and additional screening. You would be in a different pool, so unfortunately timelines here won't apply to you.

Thank you for providing this information, it looks like it might take some more time to have my information ready to track on this tracker. As of now I am getting this error message

Hi guys, did someone Had try to call IRCC checking what’s wrong with tracker website.
You can barely get any information from IRCC customer service, let alone anything about the tracker. They do not have more access than we do. I do not even know why they exist. Last time I called, the agent took 10 minutes to check my application and came back with wrong information. She said my application was in Vancouver, but it was actually in Scarborough. Only the background check was in Vancouver. Do not expect them to get anything right.

I'm sure you're right that they gave you the wrong information.

But I've yet to see any compelling information in recent months (since I've been paying attention to citizenship apps, don't know about before that) to say for sure that knowing where the file "is" actually matters at all to anyone's file. Except maybe for the oath ceremony stage.

Maybe it did in past - matter, that is, to be able to tell what's happening to you file. Maybe they sent it to one office that did all the steps.

Now it looks more like certain offices are specializing in certain things, and all that tells you - more or less - is confirm what the tracking page shows you anyway. And if that's the case - then the call centre doesn't have reliable information, possibly, because the processing model no longer matches the 'which office is the file at' model/data that they have access to.

Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know how their file processing works, so it just seems like guessing.

But we know the files are digital, so 'where the file is' is no longer a processing constraint. It's on a server. Meaning, a cloud access point.

So maybe the question people are asking the call centre, when they ask where their file is, no longer means anything important, and therefore the answer doesn't make sense either.

Ummm thats not true. 80% of applications are completed with 8 months. If this is the average, it means the median is most likely 4 to 5 months for a majority. Having applied in January, you're at the beginning end of the timeline.

They are now using a centralized approach where "centres" are performing certain tasks. Vancouver is both a centralized location and a local IRCC office. It appears Vancouver handles background checks, finger print request, and LPP and then transfers the file after the finally approval to the applicant's local office to schedule the oath ceremony. I appliedin late December, Vancouver is handling my application and Mississauga is my local office. Ironically, Scarborough handled setting up my test and was also initially my local ircc office until that changed in March. Which makes sense because I'm in Halton Region making Mississauga the closest local ircc office.

Quick question, I requested the E-certificate but since I will have to take the oath in-person, can I change to paper certificate at the time of registration?
It automatically becomes paper certificate if you've been scheduled for in person. Now we're hearing that some local offices are giving people a choice to request ecertificate at the ceremony by handing back the paper version. However, default is paper for in person.

Thanks. I remain unclear on what useful information people are getting from the 'knowledge' that their file is with a certain office or not.

Not saying there isn't any useful info in there - I just have the impression very different things are being attributed to the bits of info. (See the post to which I was referring). Sounds overall like a lot of noise and effort to not find much out.
