Neither of you didnt took test yet, and you answered no, which implies that one of you took test alrdy, instead I think you meant to say that both didnt took test yet, so sometimes BGC and test invites occur simultaneously or in parallel, hence you both will see soon the test invite as Bg is completed now.

Background check consists of mainly two components - criminality and security, where former is dealt by RCMP (often triggers FP Req) and the latter is dealt by CSIS. Yes, security is being conducted for every applicant like criminality, but for some its simple request (normal) which is usually be done in 24 hrs, while for some the complex request (extended one the security screening) which takes 6-8 months usually, but lately since Sept no significant cases been observed anecdotally pertaining to SS completion within 8 months, hence many are stranding and even a few including myself approaching 9 months and no news yet from CSIS, may be its backlog or halt the CSIS is dealing with hence the delay, thus we are speculating and concerned.
Is this the one that says in the notes

Clearance Request - RCMP/CSIS - YES

In my case I'm wondering why I didn't get a fingerprint request, background cleared quick but then they're requesting the clearance?!

Just seems weird to me if that's the case.

SO it looks like your wife background check took 8 months, do you know the exact date it started, did they request finger print, it most of the time, background check start at the date they request finger print
We havent been requested for fingerprints yet.
Not sure if its required as we had done the fingerprints before coming on PR. I think they are valid for 10 yrs. No request for fingerprints received yet

So your background check turned green, then came back as in-progress, or still green?

Just an update - Finally, the file moved after I applied for GCMS on Oct 16. My wifes Background check completed today Oct 25.
Atleast something positive after 9 months of waiting.
Ya I've seen some cases on this forum that getting the GCMS notes somehow helped to push the file forward, but you haven't done the test...that's really strange.

I don't think assigning the test to you is actual "work" for IRCC, because it's really just the computer server doing the work.

No, it still says completed. But notes say Clearance request RCMP/CSIS - Y

I don't know if that means the enhanced security request that takes 8 months or more. I'm just confused as to if they did order that for me, why didn't I get a FP request and why my BG completed right away.

Your background check is complete, therefore your security and criminality checks have passed. Hence, there is no need for fingerprints. Your file is currently stuck in the LPP stage.

Just received my 3rd AITP request details.

Looks like we are back to the same. LPP Not started, Locations E-Grants PE.

The last update was on 14th April, no updates since then. Although LPP does show a due date of 12/30/2023. I don't know how reliable or serious that due date is.

What else can I do to move/nudge my file? Write to the MP?
