I received my GCMS notes today, the file was sent for medical reassessment in Oct 2020, hasn’t been touched since then, my last year’s GCMS and latest ones look exactly the same. So frustrating! File is pending approval due to to pending medicals. @legalfalcon please advise how I can proceed.

Currently, there are massive backlogs for meds as many applicants are getting remed requests. The processing has gone from 45 days to 90 days.

Hi @legalfalcon
Thank you for your help so far on this platform.
I applied for PR from outside Canada AOR January 2020. But came to Canada on a visitor visa on May this year. I'm currently on maintained status (my visa expired) because I applied for visa extension. Today, I got an email to resubmit Schedule A form. Why do you think they requested for schedule A form again? My background, security and eligibility has already been passed as I got to know via gcms note. Medical extended till December 2021. Can my application be rejected based on my visa extension application? What do you think is my fate? Is the request for resubmission of schedule A form, a good sign? I will appreciate your input on this. Thank you @legalfalcon
Each visa application is processed on its own merits. During the processing of your PR application, IRCC can ask for additional documents to ensure if any additional PCC or checks need to be done or if you have changed your COR.

1. If any of the family members meds are about to expire or have expired then the status will show as expired. The meds have to be valid when the processing starts, and when you land.

2. There is a section for meds, see https://bit.ly/3kkEZ2U
Thanks @legalfalcon for the clarification on this. Our medicals were extended about a year back as per GCMS notes but never reflected on gckey. We have been at all stages passed pending final decision since more than a year.

My notes from 15th DEC 2020 indicates the below - “Reassessment has been granted. A new medical activity will need to be created in order to reflect the new medical validity date. This is a permanent resident applicant whose file has been finalized and has been identified as part of the inventory for whose Immigration Medical Examination(IME) is about to expire. In order to relieve the pressures associated with COVID-19, the file is being reassessed (6 months for designated countries and 1 year for non-designated countries). Should the applicant not land before the expiry of the medical, a new IME will be required. The IME was assessed as M1 or M3.”

My questions are:

1) Are you aware of other cases where applicants medicals were extended on GCMS but not reflected on the gckey since such a long time?

2) Would you suggest us to go for upfront medicals in this case? Or is there a chance that medicals can be extended again?

Thanks for your continued help and support.

Thanks, mine has been pending for more than a year, I don’t understand what is the hold up there, hoping for a positive sign soon.

Hey again, same comments in my GCMS notes from NDVO officer in oct 2020 as well as Nov 2021, and guess what instead of permanent resident applicant officer has wrongly captured as student/visitor/work permit applicant. I have raised webform for this error but no change even after a year. I have booked remed next week.

Anyone who did an upfront medical before their medicals expired and got an RFV? My medicals are expiring on 14th Jan 2022.
Everything approved since March 2020. No movement since then.

Oh hope you can get it changed to PR applicant soon enough. Are you at pending final decision or is your file approved? Did you get a remed request or are you going for upfront medicals?

My extended medical validity is 15th Dec 2021 and I was contemplating whether to go for upfront medicals.

My overall medical status is expired as per GCMS since Dec 2020 but the validity date of the medical is indicated as 15th Dec 2021. Therefore, not sure why it mentions as expired. Have you checked your medical validity date on GCMS?

1) Happens in some cases.

2) IRCC is not seeing med requests with an IME number which is attached to your application and will be used by the panel physician to use when sending the medical reports. If you go for an upfront meds on your own, it may take considerable amount of time for the meds to be assessed and attached to your application.

Hi @Zittj
I am in a very similar situation. AOR Jan 2020 in India and came to canada as Visitor in April this year, currently applied for extension. Can you please tell me what does it say for medicals in your profile?
@sahilg14 When did you submit your visa extension application and have you gotten approval on the visa extension application?
