Hello everyone!

I, finally, have some progress to share with you guys.
I received my latest batch of GCMS notes today. I ordered them because I wanted to confirm what an IRCC agent told me on the phone two months ago regarding the approval of my application on the 1st of October 2020.

My AoR date is Jan 20, I'm FSW-O and my VO is CPC Ottawa (sadly), I still haven't received PPR or any communcation of that kind from IRCC. I just call them from time to time or request GCMS notes to check on the progress of my application.

As per the notes, I found out that while in the assesments section it does say "FINAL: APPROVED", and that the file was indeed approved on the 1st of October, the medicals however, due to expiry Jan 3rd 2021, weren't extended. As such counterfoil says "Valid To: 2021/01/01.

Does it mean that my COPR is considered expired?
Can someone shed a light on this matter pretty please? Any recommendation on what should I do pro-actively on my end?
@legalfalcon @caipsnotes
Thank you in advance!
Hello same thing got my notes today with finL approved. But no ppt yet. My status is still open, I don't know where to find until when the medicals were extended.

I see. Indeed, the application status is still open even though the "FINALIZE APPLICATION" section has mentions, for each member of the family, of counterfoil/COPR with expired dates (but the status read: not started). So according to you, these shouldn't be taken into account because valid COPR is yet to be issued.

If I understand correctly, I just need to wait for IRCC to issue a remedicals request, right? Or is there a chance that they could extend my already expired meds?
I've also read that applicants in similar cases do remeds by themselves to speed up the process instead of waiting, I understand the logic behind this move but it's still a (costly) shot in the dark.
I wonder what's the best course of action...
Doing the re-meds on your own is your choice, but it does not speed up the process. It merely extends your medicals for another year as compared to 6 months when it is extended.

Hello @legalfalcon hope you are doing fine, I just received my notes saying the application is approved since 22 dec 2020 the status is always open, the meds were extended to 21/12/2021 is this normal does this mean that they expect to be that late?

any idea on how long are the GCMS notes are taking to be received right now?

In most cases IRCC is releasing the GCMS notes within 30-45 days. However, randomly there are extensions that are sought. IF you are considering Requesting GCMS notes, consider requesting them from CBSA instead of IRCC.

Also, 49% of all request filed with IRCC were delayed. Between 2019-2020 IRCC there were 4k complaint filed against IRCC. To read more on this and understand the difference between IRCC and CBSA, see https://bit.ly/3d27WxW

Yes, many applicants are in the same situation as you are where the application has been approved and they are waiting a decision. If you re outland applicant then you will have to wait until IRCC starts rolling our PPRs, most likely when the travel restrictions will be relaxed.

Thank you for your answer. It seems to be that way. But the thing is that some PPR were rolled out end of 2020. I don't know maybe it depends om the office.

@legalfalcon What’s the best solution in this case?
Tried calling Immigration department same generic reply of COVID
There is no solution. Until the travel restrictions are relaxed, don't expect much. Many applicants have ben filing online petitions etc. But unless you can travel, even if you get a COPR, what good would that be.

Also, since Mid 2020, IRCC has been experiencing delays in processing applications.

Best to wait for an update from IRCC

It's almost as good as coin toss whether you will receive your GCMS file in 30 days or if it's going to take far longer (Some/one GCMS provider has disproportionately been receiving 90 day extensions, so beware from where you request)

This is based off stats from IRCC see
https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ircc/documents/pdf/english/corporate/publications-manuals/atip-2019-2020-en.pdf

CBSA on other hand has a better track; review this detailed comparison for requesting Gcms Notes from IRCC vs CBSA https://bit.ly/34nuJPu that others are quoting from

CBSA : the same thing!!
I've ordered my CBSA on december 18th : still waiting!
Received a 60 days extension notice on january 19th !

You pay more in order to have something "faster", but at the moment it's the same waiting time as a classic GCMS request...
