Thanks for the link. Yeah my country's embassy is Vancouver and Toronto only and we have to go in person.

Another question, did you fill up form CIT 0177 Residence outside Canada...as a crown servant or with a crown servant family member.

I read the form, it looks like it's usually for armed forces or diplomat officials and their families.

I filled it because I stayed more than 186 days in another country before becoming PR. I filled just my name in the first line and signed in the last line. everything in that document I wrote "not applicable". I have attached a separate clarification letter with that document.

Thanks for the clarification

I did not fill it and in the last 4 years I stayed outside of Canada more than 250 days. But my reason was I had stayed more than 200 days before immigrating and the rest (less than 50) after immigrating.
I still attached a PCC though.

In my opinion, question needs to be updated.

I didn't fill out the CIT 0177 form. My case falls under Example 3 i.e. several trips with a total number of >183 days in one country. I don't have an address tied to the country and wasn't a residence, so I just answered 'yes' and provided PCC, but not CIT 0177.
I've seen several posts regarding the CIT 0177 form and as vidyasagar said, you can fill out that form with N/A to you and attached a letter explaining that you are not claiming the credit for that period.

If you select yes then you need to fill out the form cit077 that means one of thing applies to you. Otherwise, there is no reason to fill out the form and write N/A. It's better to select NO. And done.

Hey, please add me in

Called cic and clarified the PCC and cit 0177. The customer service agent said that no need for PCC and cit 0177. She said although January 2014 to August 2015 is within the eligibility period but not yet a permanent resident and not yet in Canada then no need for this documents.

Spent about an hour for wait time and only 2 mins to talk to an agent. :)

Hi,
How are you? I am preparing to apply for my citizenship. I was in India for 208 days for my wedding. From what I have heard is you don't have to provide PCC for your country of residence and the country you are citizen of?
Hi, I’m not sure about that, too. According to the instruction, I think you would need one but dont take my word. I’d suggest you call IRCC for a clarification to make sure what to do in your case. Best of luck. :)
