Why do not you take the Government administered language test? rather than IELTS.
There is no government language test. There are government-funded language classes, and one would need to complete a course to receive the certificate indicating completion. There is a placement test to determine which level class one should take, but that placement test is not acceptable proof of language knowledge.

As @Quink is a native speaker they would probably be assessed at having skills beyond what is offered in those classes, so would not have been able to take the class (and in the unlikely event the course organizers permitted it: it would have been terribly boring for someone who's fluent, and would have taken something like 12-16 weeks rather than the 25 days that waiting for the test results did).

Are you talking about the CELPIP test and asking why I did IELTS instead of that? If so, my answer is that I wasn't really very familiar with CELPIP but I had a lot of friends who had taken IELTS before, so when it came time for me to book a test I just went with IELTS. In hindsight and with a little more research I might have been able to save a little bit of money and half a day's time with CELPIP, but I got lucky and didn't need to wait very long for my IELTS booking and I knew for sure what to expect, so that's what I went with.

In the end, for me it probably didn't matter. As a native English speaker I wasn't in any real danger of scoring less then 4.5. o_O

Could u plz share ur experience with FP request in Toronto. And did u opted for sending the reports directly to CIC ?
I saw other threads where they had few issues with FP reporting directly to CIC
what kind of issues?
I told to send my FP to CIC directly. They will send to RCMP , RCMP will investigate and send to CIC.
