It took them 10 days to return my friend’s passport..

Shouldnt we expect to receive emails and post maintenance updates in the working hours instead ? The time in Ottawa right now is 7 am.

PP sent sometime mid Oct 2017 and received it from NDVO end of Oct 2017. He submitted the PP at VFS Bangalore..HTH...

How to know which Visa office is handling application? Do we have to send email to CIC? Not sure if they will reply on this as normal processing time is 6 months as they say. Any guidance?

U can email them but they often send an automated response to the effect that they r busy.a better option would be to call cic during working hours.

Status changes are very unpredictable and does not always indicate the true position of ur application .although since ur application is in Ottawa it’s a clear that u have passed the first level of eligibility.cz Ottawa mainly deals with admissibility.

No it means that u most probably cleared eligibility A11.2 but by a junior officer it is then sent to a senior officer at Ottawa if he finds that all is ok then that start criminality, bg check,misrepresentation,.then ppr.
NA1 ,Na2,IP1 and ip2 are not accurate indicators of actual status.
Your Travel history especially if u have travelled to the Middle East,security status of ur home country,security and intelligence sharing between ur home country and Canada are all factors that may delay or expedite your background check.
