So far, I am not very happy about this news. But I am going to try and think positively. We have no idea what this means. From what I can tell, embassies and consulates in the USA will no longer handle permanent resident visas (this seems to include the satellite visa offices), and effectively immediately all files in process will be sent to Ottawa.

What a workload they are going to get. And how many visa officers do they have to handle potentially hundreds (or even thousands) of files. My file was just sent to LA for example, nothing has happened on it for 2+months and now it's on it's way to Ottawa with everyone else's. and we are given no indication of processing times.

ahem... positive thinking! ;) :P

it's ok Amoss!!!! many others from other embassies saw no news or movements on their files yet!!! but at the end i'm sure it will count since when u applied and how long u waited; don't worry, maybe they r ready with a decision and no need to transfer ur file anymore ;) ;) ;)

as for the processing time even if we would see them they r still a joke; if for the 2nd stage they calculate like for the 1st stage (which the past months were never accurate and still r not) then i prefer to have my own calculations ;) ;) ;)

Updates: My Wife's indian address showed up on her status which was not displaying before. Is this a good sign please let me know if anyone had same situation.

Not sure what exactly u mean. R u sponsored person or sponsor?

If your sponsored person who's address is showing indian or canadian address, If its canadian i guess ur process is almost done as per my knowledge.

Wow if its canadian adress i guess its over, but its just my guess with my knowledge on these thread.

GOOD NEWS :D

There was a minor snag with my application at the last minute -- they asked me to resubmit my passport photos before my COPR could be issued. So rather than spending $90 for next day shipping from Canada, I uploaded my photos to a printing company just a few blocks from the consulate and got them printed and delivered that day, for just $19.

Today I got this email from the Sydney VO:

"Good Morning,

Your application has been finalised and your PR visa documentation will be sent to you this week."

I'm so pleased! Unlike many of you I've been in Canada for 3 years and couldn't leave while my (many) applications were being processed. I can finally visit my family! :D

Regards
Immigration Section / Section de l'Immigration"
