YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!, SPONSORSHIP APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!, FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!, ;D. My sponsor received our Approval Letter from Ottawa yesterday!, thank god!, it's been a long wait!, I'm just glad that part is done. As my sponsor lives in Quebec, the next step is for her to send off the CSQ FORM which I have already completed and she has with her. Just a question, does anyone know how long this CSQ step would take?, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take all that long for them to make a decision. After that they forward our application to the Sydney Visa Office for further processing. Does anyone know what month I'd be looking at for this all to be completed?, just wondering what are the different steps that our involved in this process.

Congrats on the stage 1 nightmare being over!

I'm also being sponsored by my spouse in Quebec and have asked the same question on that CSQ form in another thread:

Anyway the upshot is it will take within 20 days..

As for the Sydney stage 2 part, the processing times are currently 7 months.. I dunno if maybe someone out there has aleady had approval from the Oz VO and knows 'real' time ?? All depending I spose on if your docs are sweet.

congraaaaats and it's nice to see that they r more quebec applicants i did write a more detailed answer abt it on Feb thread, towards the end of it, check that out but in a nutshell, ur file was already transfered to the vo when u got the approval now when u get the CSQ (for some people it took even 2 weeks) the MICC will also forward a copy of it to the VO...some vo's will wait for the csq copy before they start any process some will start before it arrives....once u have the csq u can also contact the vo to make sure they have it too - if not u could send them a scanned copy (its misplacement could cause delays later); remember the original of this document is very imp in Quebec so always keep that with u good luck!!

Hi.I got the answer to my own question today so I thought i would share. The embassy mailed us a letter stating that we do not need to redo the police report from your home country (if you are not living there now as we are) unless you went back for over 6 months.
In case anyone was wondering.

thanks Amoss that's good find cuz it would really b almost impossible for us to get it again....the problem is that that post is 4 years old almost and probably since then they became stricter, especially some vo's :-\

Just to update, I sent in the CSQ application today.

goood luuuuuuuuck, ours was received yesterday, same day u sent ;D .....we should get it in around the same time....keep in touch!! ;D

nooooooooo! don't say that I really have to think that since he has not been back to those countries there would be no reason for him to get an updated police record check.. he couldn't have committed any crimes. I hope they have this common sense!!! grrrr

i had to say it but don't worry Buffalo seams a reasonable office....anyway, i did think of that scenario and thought that even if they would ask, we would get again the one from the country where he's currently residing and for the other we would write an explanation letter - why we can't get it anymore, not safe to go, noone there anymore, etc....since when he didn't reside there, even if he went after it was just visit, etc....u could do the same but maybe they won't ask at all ;D

Great suggestion thanks! The criminal record check here is suuuper easy and super fast, so I wouldn't be worried about that one at all.

NOPE LOL and i don't think there will b any word for some time....although i would have to make sure they have the CSQ at some point : even ppl who were transfered from Damascus there they didn't get any official confirmation....when i asked on their thread abt AOR they didn't even hear abt that before it's ok they could quietly process it now i'm just happy the CSQ forms arrived safely in Montreal (a part of me wished to b included in that envelope :-\) so now i'll follow on that....is Buffalo as silent too? :

NO word at all from Buffalo. I am not surprised though. I e-mailed them once with an app related question and got a very standard response back (basically a link to the website--which incidentally didn't answer my question) about 2 weeks later... :
