As january 2 is fast approaching, i am reluctant to submit my application on january 2 because of my notice of assessment. Do i have to wait for my new notice of assessment 2012? Or shall i proceed with my application submitting my NOA 2011? Thanks!

that's a good question just for seniors, or I think you should consult a lawyer specialist in immigration for this matter.

cheers and hope you can apply soon.

Most recent NOA at the time of application (feel free to write a note explaining that you haven't filed for 2012 taxes yet). You won't be able to complete your 2012 return until probably March. You should however submit pay stubs for 2012 to show your employment income for the year (this is generally why they request your NOA, to compare your earned income to what your employment letter suggests).

"Most recent," so the 2011 NOA is fine. If your paystubs show cumulative annual information, your final December paystub would be a good idea, but is not strictly necessary. (I would never bury the VO with all of your paystubs for the year, unless there were a very good reason, e.g your hours varied every week).

They may request the 2012 at a later date, so you should plan to file your 2012 taxes as early as possible.

Hey guys-

Do you always require an NOA to submit with your application? I haven't filled for tax return before, so does this affect me?

I have T4's, pay slips etc etc. I am applying in January.

Thanks

I do not think that submitting NOA will be mandatory in the new environment of 12 months' Canadian experience requirement. Practically, it will not be possible for applicants to produce a NOA in such scenarios.

I applied under CEC Graduate Stream and I was required to submit my NOC.

I don't know if they will make two different checklists for Graduate Stream and Temporary foreign worker Stream or completely eliminating the submission of NOC because I think they would want to know whether you are paying your taxes or not during your stay in Canada (1yr or more) and NOC is a way to prove that. If you don't have your NOC at the time of submitting your application, they can always ask you to send it later on.

I've been in Canada on/off since December 2007. I first came on a 1 year open work permit and worked just under a full year until september 2008. I have worked as a ski instructor for 4 months every winter (december-april) since. This past year I have been on another 1 year open work permit which allowed me to stay during the summer and work as a Group & Event coordinator at a golf club. I am now the Director of Ski School and employed 7 months of the year (October-April)

I have always been just short of the 2 years experience as my work was seasonal. Now the rules will change to 1 years experience I will qualify!

I filed my taxes this May with HR block and they told me it could take up to 1 year to get a response as I am a foreign (UK). I am STILL waiting. I called them today to inquire about this NOA and they said until my return is done, I won't have one. They even suggested re-sending my forms again because they still haven't heard back.

I assume that submitting all T4's, ROE's and pay stubs, this will be satisfactory?

Any other advice over my eligibility would be greatly appreciated. I have been here for 6 years and it is my dream to stay here. I posted a concern yesterday too regarding finding the exact NOC codes for my jobs. Is there a way you can contact HRSDC or CIC to find out what you may fall under?

Thanks again

You can check the status yourself online with the CRA -
http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/esrvc-srvce/tx/ndvdls/myccnt/menu-eng.html

Until the NOA is available, submit the other documents along with a statement that you have filed your return (attach a copy of the receipt from H&R Block), but you are still waiting for the NOA and will forward it when you receive it.

"Notice of Assessment" - After you file your income tax return, Canada Revenue Agency sends you a Notice of Assessment. (If you completed your tax return correctly, it will just basically repeat the same information). You should have one for every year in which you filed a tax return. If you've misplaced one, you can go online to the CRA (link posted above) and get a copy (for recent years only).
