Dude, i'm still waiting for F'ing TEST! Am I the only one?

No, I didn't get RQ'd or anything of that nature. As far as I know, my case is "routine" (yeah, right).

You should talk to the MP to find out what is happening. Hard to see how they can meet the end of March deadline for routine cases if you still have to do the test and oath.

The deadline has an escape clause, which says something like, "80% of routine applications will be finalized by March 31st". I guess mine is in the unlucky 20%.

I will do my follow ups starting April 1st, otherwise it's just a waste of time.

I paid $630 to process my Citizenship application and FULLY EXPECT fast processing. At least eCAS should have some meaningful status instead of just saying "In Process since March 2015". Now, I've to pay extra to get PR renewed. F*'ing CIC.

Congrats Ali...I'm still waiting for my damn oath....i'm not sure how they expect me to be cheerful when they decide to let me be a Canadian after making me wait for that long.

So I gave CIC a call today and they said my application is non-routine and the reason is they are still checking some information. When I asked them why my application was considered non-routine the lady on the phone refused to disclose anymore information.

new timeline: 36 months....god save the queen

Resurrecting this long dormant thread.

My application was sent December 30, 2014 and received January 2, 2015. I took the test in July, 2015 and passed, received RQ in September, filed full response in November 2015.

This week I received a notice that I have a hearing with the Citizenship Judge on July 20, 2017 @ 10 am.

I'm sorry you had to wait that long...just be thankful you're still alive and didn't lose your cool

No reason to lose my cool. I know how slowly IRCC moves, especially on unusual or complicated cases. When I filed, I fully expected it would take at least 36 months. The problem is that my work required quite a lot of travel (though that has now changed). Under the current (about to change) rules, I figured I would not qualify to apply until late 2018. Under the new (about to come into effect) rules, I already qualify.

I'm not traveling much these days, however, as I'm pursuing a PhD at the University of British Columbia. Whether they deem me worthy of Canadian citizenship or not is really arbitrary and up to the Citizenship Judge. I don't know what IRCC has recommended in my case, either, as I know that can play a role.

The physical presence test is easy for IRCC (versus the older residence test) but seems to focus less on interacting and contributing to Canada. C'est la vie, n'est pas?

While I suspect nobody is looking at this thread anymore, I thought that I would describe the final disposition of my case. I had a CJ hearing in July 2017. He refused the application in late August. He does not explain why, if he were going to apply Pourghasemi he even held the hearing as I had already stipulated to the fact I did not meet the physical presence test. Given that by the time of the decision I was about 30 days short of qualifying under the 4 in 6 rules (and the 3 in 5 rules were pending) my attorney recommended not challenging the decision.

The absurdity of it is requiring that someone spend hundreds of hours of time compiling a response to the residency questionnaire when you are going to apply a test for which it is immaterial to the final decision.
