ITA received, meds passed/waiting background check pls connect here

I've got the exact timeline as you except that while your background check is in progress mine hasn't started. This is further proof that those who apply within Canada will have their applications processed faster than those outside Canada.

I don't think this is true - applying inside or outside should not make a difference under Express Entry. I have applied inside Canada and my background check has is 'not started' and has been like the same for weeks..

If you read my earlier message you'll see that I didn't say everyone who applied within Canada has had their background check in progress. What I said is that I haven't seen anyone who applied outside Canada with a background check status as in progress, whereas those who've got theirs as in progress are the ones who applied within Canada.

hi! my status changed yesterday. Passed my medical exam, and background check status changed to "in progress"...

is there anything that I need to do? I didn't get any email about getting my fingerprints yet. what do you guys think?

are they really transferred to the local canada visa officers? or is the processing done centrally in canada until the application is approved? and the PPR is requested by local office at the final stage?
are you confident ?

Not sure how that works - don't see why it should be easier for an officer to simply set the BG status as "Not Started" for people applying from outside Canada while simultaneously setting it to "In Progress" directly for others (skipping that entire step of "Not Started"!) - could it possibly mean that the files of outside Canada applicants have now been transferred to the respective local Visa offices for further processing and that those local officers are,

1. Poorly trained in EE system and not well versed about these steps
2. Procrastinating over these cases because they are overburdened with older files
3. Trying to maintain a certain prescribed minimum time window before responding

I remember seeing posts about someone who got a PPR from NDVO and someone else who has an interview scheduled at HKVO in June. What about the rest of us?

there are some ppl in the whatsapp group who got their AOR in may ... have the bg check in progress they are outside canada.
its really crazy not sure what CIC is actually doing....we are trying to wreck our brains seriously....
if we can only understand if the processing is done in canada or the local visa office.....

if its been distributed to local visa office then i think they should be faster in processing.. as they should have all the candidates details accessible for bg check n all thse things ...

Waiting for Background Check to start for quite a while! My current country of residence is US (not US pr or
citizen). I'm wondering if they are gonna transfer applications of people outside Canada to local visa office, aren't US applications supposed to be taken care of at Ottawa? Or maybe they moved applications to visa office at country of citizenship instead of country of residence? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

well since its just been 2 days since ur medical is passed... i think it takes a couple of days before ECAS actually reflects the 3rd line... keep watching u ll get the good news soon

Nobody knows for sure. I was just speculating about the reasons behind delaying the process for applicants outside Canada.

I dont think applying with or outside Canada matters. I applied from outside Canada, and in 10 days of submitting my documents, my Background Check moved to In Progress.
