ITA - FSW - work experience

My score was increased by 13 due to another year of work experience (i put my job starting month as October 2013) but the truth is i took 2 month unpaid leave during this two year working period. So I was worried my final score at the time of my final submission would be inconsistent with the score I received upon ITA.

On the other hand, my ITA is under FSW - i did get 8 month of full time, paid work experience (intern) when I was at school - would that count for "work experience" under FSW? (i was planning to apply under CEC so i know these in-school internship would not count as work). If that is the case ,I have more than enough for "2 year" experience. If FSW does not recognize internship, then i should not have 2 -year experience?

If this intern work experience was gained while studying in Canada, it cannot be counted. Else, you might have a shot at getting it counted as work experience (part-time or full-time) depending on the reference letter you have for such experience. I suspect it would be part-time because you would, technically, be studying full-time simultaneously. Even then, it should net you 4 months of experience which will more than compensate for that 2 months unpaid vacation.

Thank you for your response.. My intern work comes with job offer letter which says "full time" in canada - in canada, the work term while at school is full time but we are working based on sort of work permit (while at school) . So you are saying CIC would consider the circumstances? There is no clear rule under FSW? (for CEC, rule is clearly stated on the CIC website that any type of work during school is not work)

It isn't about the program. Any work experience gained while studying in Canada cannot be counted as work experience towards your PR application.

Can you please send any official CIC reference to this CRS Point calculation point? Technically, my points are given by the system. I did not calculate it myself....

You cannot count experience gained inside Canada as a student.

Self-employment and work experience gained while you were a full-time student (for example, on a co-op work term) does not count under this program.

Hey i really really wanted to apply :) so i was trying to look all over the place to convince myself . Your link is for CEC. This link below is the eligiblity for FSW which says nothing about Coop work term.

Yes. FSW says nothing about co-op work term. But the system automatically files your Canadian work experience under CEC and there's nothing you can do about it. Only non-Canadian work experience is filed under FSW. So your Canadian work experience gained while you were a student in Canada will ALWAYS correspond to CEC and not to FSW.
