ITA - Draw 62 - readying PR application

Hello friends, those of you who received ITA in draw 62, let us contribute and help each other to file the PR application. I am sure people will have many queries and doubts just like I have. Let us share our experiences and knowledge to help each other.

Hi Friends,

I am from India and confused about following two points;

1. My spouse's family name was changed after marriage. So, under "Name change document", can I upload our Marriage Certificate and clarify it in Letter of Explanation, because Marriage Certificate only reflect new family name and there is no mention of old family name?

2. Regarding PCC, it is mentioned on website http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/india.asp that "You can apply at your local district police station" and my city police allow doing this online. But I have read in many threads that it is better to obtain Police Clearance Certificate from the Passport office. Is there any difference in that?

Your spouse can attach a self affidavit along with the marriage certificate and passport copy where her current surname is highlighted.
Regarding PCC, if you have stayed at the same address since you turned 18, then an online PCC will be ok.

Can anyone help me please. I have a question: Can i show my wife's bank account and PF account as Proof of funds along with my bank account and 401K account?

If she is accompanying you and is part of the application, then yes.
The account should be in spouse's name only or jointly with you only.
Regarding PF, they have rules regarding the amount you can withdraw. You will have to get a letter from PPF Office stating you have xxx amount in your account and outbid which YYY amount can be withdrawn immediately.

Why is there so much fuss about getting PCC from Passport office only when the cic website clearly states that for delhi applicants, Delhi police can issue PCC! Any views on this. Has anyone submitted Delhi police pcc. Please share experiences.
