Hi All,

I understand that this may be generic question, however, there are plenty of information on net and so sometimes you wont find exactly what you are looking for. So I am posting my question.

I have done my Masters in Computer Application from Pune. I have more than 10 years of experience in web development / programming area using Microsoft technology (asp.net, C#). My age is 34.

Question: Do I have to appear for IELTS? What exact steps I have to take to seek work in Canada and ultimately seek permanent relocation?

No URL reference please.

Thank you.

Your profession seems to be inline with NOC 2715, but you can choose one of the fours NOC's 2171/2/3/4
which may suite best according to the experience letter that is given to you by your employers. Be careful because they
interview also and at the end they should be convinced that you are in the correct category.

New rules will be ( Miniterial instructions) are going to be announced on 26th April, so wait and
watch for all the criteria , eligibility requirement for language , Age etc. Its too late though but still you can try .

I too am new to this, but I would like to add to kewlCanadas response.

I am certain you would have to take the IELTS (and get a minimum of 5 or 6, I am not sure.) The only way you can opt out is to claim your principal language is French, but then you would have to take the TEF (French). I think there is an alternative to the IELTS (CELPIP or CLB or something like that, but they are not offered outside Canada.)

I am an IT professional with 8 years of experience currently working in the US. Had applied to Canada 4 yrs back and application is still under progress. Canada does not have a big IT market like India or US. I'm saying this because a lot of guys in Canadian firm of my employer are working in the US due to lack of projects.

Since I've already invested a lot, I have to see it through. Before you begin, search for job opportunities and study the market a bit.

I'm not aligned to Microsoft technology in any way so can't share my specific thoughts.

Regards, SWA

Update: And about IELTS, yes you have to. Once you're sure about this, hire a consultant. Always helpful.
