Hi, I am commerce graduate from India. Can I apply for IT course in Canada and expect good job prospect there? Which IT courses are available for a commerce graduate in Canada?

Honest advice, if you are a commerce graduate why jump into IT. Look into Banking, Accounting, Investments, Wealth Management. With your background if you can get MBA Finance (from decent University) + CFA you will have much better earning potential, instead of slogging after changing technologies and yes not forget the ever growing pain of outsourcing in IT.

I am 27 year old and I have completed my graduation in Bsc. Mass Communication but I am working as Business Development Manager in an IT company for more than 5 years. Very soon I will be getting married to someone who has a Canadian PR. I have a good hold over English Language - Written and Spoken. I would like to know what are the best job prospects for me in Canada (British Columbia)?

Waiting and anticipation!

Best Regards

I was little bit surprised to received a response!

I applied for two jobs matching my profile randomly anywhere in Canada! I didn't even read job desc and other details carefully.

I wasn't expecting a reply because I am currently living in London, UK!

This morning I received a reply from one of them telling me that they're willing to consider I am willing to move to Edmonton!

I've just replied asking what kind of salary are they paying, will see what they come back with!

In general, can anyone tell me what would be a good salary to live comfortably for a couple and save a bit as well in Edmonton, AB? And what are the house prices in that city?

Hi,
Are you open to recruiting developers currently outside Canada and require a work permit?

Hi

This is a very useful post. I am hoping to come to Canada (British Columbia) and join my husband this year based on PR. I have few queries:
I have 5.5 years of work experience in IT industry with some time working in Java. But I want to change my job profile in testing field. Could you please let me know what are the chances to get job prospects there based on the fact that I don't have actual work experience in testing (though I am aware of the manual testing area because I have been a developer). I am willing to start the career in testing as a fresher.

Also, which automation tools are in great demand there?

Appreciating your valuable comments in advance

Thanks

Someone please reply on my post

If I were you, I would look at job portals to see what is in demand. Like workopolis, monster etc. This would give me a good idea on what employers are looking for. Further I would try to network with testing professionals on linkedin and seek their opinion. Probably there would be fewer testing professionals in this forum to answer specific queries..

If you have Java experience, why do you want to jump into testing. Get some certifications in Java, J2ee. Get some knowledge of XML, XSD, Web Services. You should be good to go.

If you want to get more billing rate get into TIBCO, Maximo or Oracle ADF kind of development.

Hi justinline,
That's because I am getting more interested into testing domain as its more flexible job. So, that's why wanted to know about the same

Thanks

Hello guys,
I have some queries. I have BS degree in CS and more than 3 years exprience in Game Developement.
I worked for a US based Company for 2 years. And for my current employer I had also worked on a product that had recenelty been acquired by Tango. and is published under its account. I'm from Pakistan. I have 360 points in me EE profile. now the difficuly part begins i.e getting a job.

1) will my expereince be considered. because i have read that they only consider canadian expereince or in when it comes to salary ?
2) Whats the best way to apply for job. Like should i apply for Jobs staright ahead on sites like jobbank and mosnter. Or are there some special measure that a international application needs to take. e.g mention in cover letter that I'm a EE candidate looking for a LMIA job. etc etc
3) whats the best way to takle the job part so one can avoid unnecessary hurdles ?

Please share your expriences. I would really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks.
