PGWPs cannot be extended, unless there is a temporary policy. Might be a problem because you applied when you were not qualified for the extension.

@legalfalcon @scylla your thoughts?

I applied for the extension because no decision had been made on my PR application and I wanted to have valid immigration documentation.
On March 17, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that international graduates with a recently expired or expiring post-graduation work permit (PGWP) will qualify for an additional or extended work permit of up to 18 months.

You may be eligible to get a one-time new open work permit that allows you to work in Canada for up to 18 months if your PGWP has expired or will expire between September 20, 2021, and December 31, 2023.

A PGWP is typically not extendable. PGWP holders who want to extend their stay in Canada as a worker are usually expected to apply for another type of work permit as their PGWP expires.

A PGWP may be valid anywhere between eight months and up to three years. The length of your permit will depend on the length of the study program you completed in Canada. The permit won't be longer than the length of your study program.

You can work in Canada while waiting for your PGWP, as long as you applied before.

Yes, but the policy only came out in April. OP submitted application in January before the policy came into effect. Hence, there is a technicality issue.

I called IRCC before I applied and the agent I spoke to told me to go ahead with the application after I explained my situation.

Got my ITA today :D. There's a portion of the application that asks if I've ever applied for PR. I should answer YES because I have the TR to PR application in process right?
