Greetings all:

My friend has met a problem about his PGWP. He just graduated in this January and wanted to apply for PGWP. However, his passport will be expiring on 2018 March. He wanted to renew but his latest appointment with the Embassy is on end of this April. That means he will miss the 90 days, which is the valid time to apply for PGWP. So he applied for the PGWP first and got the permit with only one-year period. (The expired date of the work permit is same as the expired date of his passport)

Right now, he is wondering if he can apply for amendment (IMM1436) of his work permit, after getting the new passport. As it is hard for him to find an employer who can apply for LMIA for him.

Thank you all.

1. Yes, once he has a new passport, he can apply for the remaining time on his PGWP>

Thank you PMM, but he needs to apply for amendment IMM1436, or he can submit a new PGWP application to have the rest time period?

He will need to apply to extend his work permit.
