Is10th standard school certificate considered sufficient to prove date of birth?

hi.

me and my spouse have only our (1)10th standard school certificates to prove our date of birth.


Other than that we have only our (2) national voter cards issued by the electoral commission of India which has our date of birth mentioned on it....Would this be sufficient to prove our date of births

which should we use ......1/ 2 / neither???????

I know that for India both US and Canada insist on actual birth certificates from the government if you were born after 1970 (not sure of the actual year) because the govt made it compulsory to register all births and deaths after that. Also, you have the option of getting the govt birth certificate even now saying it wasn't registered before. It's not an easy process, but it can be done (Just got mine one year back, it was a 1-1/2-year process :-( As always, if you're willing to dish out money, you'll get it sooner. It depends on the village office/municipality.

Another option, if you are older, is to get a notarized affidavit.

Anyway the ID card and the 10th certificate won't do, for sure. As Rupesh pointed out, the DOB is already there in your passport, which is issued to you only after police verification and thorough checking. They could've easily accepted that as proof, but they don't.

hi .. i had a similar case .... i didnt have my birth certificate ...
however my lawyer had confirmed that certified copies of my education certificates which include date of birth and name of parent is sufficient .. howver only passport is not sufficient ...
i am in dubai to be on the safe side i applied for a document ( called birth certificate) through the inidan embassy here , they kept my passports for a week and gave me a letter verifying my date and place of birth on my passpoer ... that letter according to my lawyer was more than enough.... if you are in india i am sure you can get similar letter from authorities there .....

1)If your parents are still living, take them or ask them to go to a Notary of Oath, Solicitor or court and take an oath or Affidavit.
2)If otherwise , you can do the above yourself.

This is the Normal (NORM) Procedure.

I am in the same situation and My parents have done this on my behalf. I have used this ever since 1974, It has never been refuted.

I have another question in this respect: do we need to submit the standard school certificate together with the certificate of birth and other documents? It seems to be necessary to count for 10 years of school education, but they don't ask for it in their pdf documentation. What do you suggest?

Yes, I absolutely agree with you, but I read somewhere on the forum that people do submit their school certificates, so I decided to re-ask to be sure that I understand correct the situation.

If you are outside India, then try to get BC from Indian consulate where you live. I got mine from Indian Consulate in USA.
