Is waiting for the letter to come in the mail,the only way to know?

Dear Forum,
Our application was received CIC Mississauga December 7th, Ecas says a decision was made January 11th and a letter sent to our address in Mongolia. We are still waiting for this letter to arrive. I know it's only been 2 weeks and a day but is there anyway to know what they decided before this letter arrives? Why do they post decision made but not what the decision was if it's a secure log in on ecas?

Due to the freedom of information act they are not allowed to post that and must communicate that information through documented letter. I would suggest trying to contact the call centre, some people have had great response from them in regards to finding out that their paperwork has been sent to their visa office for further processing.

Is there a number that I can call from overseas? IF (and I'm praying to dear God) the decision made was YES then, how long later would it normally be before they transfer it to the overseas processing office, in our case Beijing.

Once you have been approved, the file is sent to the visa office pretty much right away. However, it may take a few weeks before you receive communication from Beijing. Hope you get your letter soon...

Dear Forum, I am so happy I could cry. Before getting the letter by snail mail from Mississauga saying whether I had been accepted to sponsor my husband or not I have received the following email directly from the Canadian Embassy in Beijing:
We are committed to processing applications for permanent residence in Canada in the immigrant category in which you have applied within six (6) months for routine cases.
Be advised that your application is processing normally and is in queue for assessment. The processing of your application may be delayed if we do not have all of the documents that are required, including your passport(s). If you have not already submitted your passport(s) please do so as soon as possible. This request does not constitute a decision on your application. If required, we will contact you regarding any additional requirements related to your application.
So I guess I have been approved to Sponsor him!!!! and it seems he has to submit his passport already...strangely enough..I guess we won't be travelling anywhere for awhile... .
