Hi everyone,

I really hope you will help me with my situation. I am finishing my Master's program in a Canadian university this December. I would like to work in Canada after that for some time, and I will be applying for a post-graduation work permit later. But until I get it, and until I start working in Canada, I would like to go back to my country (Ukraine) for some time, and visit my family.

I still have a valid study permit and multiple-entry visa (where it shows that I am a student) until 2012, so I am wondering whether I can enter Canada using these documents when I am not a student anymore?

I will reformulate: is there any way, that a Canadian officer at the entry point will know that I've already finished my degree when I show him my visa? When I finish my degree, will my Canadian institution send the information of my graduation to the Canadian immigration office, so they cancel my visa?

I have no money to stay in Canada after my studies and wait for the work permit and new visa. also in my country to get a visa it takes much more than 1 month, so I would really, REALLY!, like to use my existing visa to enter Canada.

I will be thankful for any related information.

Anna

Of course you can use your existing permit to enter Canada. The officer at the port of entry only has access to the information initially processed by the embassy that issued your visa. So far as your student Visa is Valid, you can still use it. Don't waste time. Pack, go home and enjoy your family.
