Wife had her medical exam 2 days ago. It was not mandatory to have had it at the time of the exam. We were asked if she had it (yes - double vaxxed), but that was it. Didn't even have to show her vaccination certificate. Nothing on the eMedical form (form submitted to IRCC) mentioning a vaccine either.

Don't know why it would be location specific. Right now it's not required at all.

Perfectly normal a doctor would ask whether vaccinated during an examination right now. Doesn't say anything about whether it's required, it's a matter relevant to health and potentially the examination results.

I might be wrong, but personally had a feeling it does matter a bit cos I was asked during my medicals, I then questioned the doctor and he told me ofcos it is not a requirement for anything BUT they have been requested by IRCC to ask and give feedback. So this is why I feel so from my experience. I wasn't vaccinated then that's why I asked.

I would advice others to get vaccinated if they can cos online I have seen some updates of Canada soon to releive all restrictions and stuff for fully vaccinated people.

I wonder whether this could cause a delay after the medical. Any advice would be appreciated.

As far as restrictions are concerned, there is no hotel quarantine, but unvaccinated has to take covid test and quarantine for 14 days and we are ok with that.

Perfect, your reasons are pure. As to whether it would delay the process don't think so AS THE DOCTOR SAID THEY WERE ONLY TO ASK but has nothing to do with the process, I only advice as per my experience. Once you even willing to do the hotel quarantine and testing that's cool.

As at right now, the delays after medical for unvaccinated are well known - potential extra testing and quarantine. That's on the Canadian side.

Could there be additional barriers either from Canada or other countries that might affect you later (including transit countries)? Sure, could be. But would be pure speculation at this point.

I would seriously note that whatever [lack of] requirements for PR applicants may be now, no-one can say they won't be required in future. Or just as seriously, that not being vaccinated may involve a lot of extra hoops to jump through in order to travel to Canada.

All speculation at this point, and probably there would be a fair number of exemptions and exceptions and possibly differences between types of applicants (eg spousal vs various economic/skills programs), but it's entirely possible - and arguably likely - that at some point they will start making it required for many PR applicants.

Not to mention that the news is that many provinces will soon introduce some type of vaccine-tracking (also known as vaccine passports) that will mean a LOT more restrictions for those unwilling to get vaccinated.

All to say: for those who really, really don't want to get vaccinated (as opposed to having some severe medical reason not to) - it's going to be less and less compatible with moving to and living in Canada.

There is a pretty good chance many airlines will make vaccines a requirement to fly. Would suggest speaking to a doctor because you seem to have incorrect information about covid vaccines. There is no proof that vaccines impact fertility. There is significant proof that covid affects pregnant women significantly more than women that are not pregnant. Unfortunately many pregnant mothers have ended up in the ICU, some on ventilators, many have had to have premature babies or have unfortunately had have late miscarriages or stillborns and many women have died and left newborn babies behind.
