Is USA State Clearance required as part of PCC

Hi All,

Is USA State Clearance required as part of PCC apart from the FBI clearance.

Or case by case will it be asked for few from CHC ?

Please clarify because I stayed in Maryland and as per their site it says that person has to in person to get police clearence which is not possible now as I am in India now.

Dear Laxmikanthms, The CIC clearly states that it will be on case by case basis.

"Yes. Applicants should provide a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) certificate with fingerprints. State certificates may also be requested. The Visa Office will advise you if state certificates are required in your case"

Back in Feb 2009 they made it necessary to have both state and federal PCCs but later they changed it again and NOW you only need an FBI PCC. If state ones are required they will ask you later.

Right, at this time, you do do not need the State PCC unless/until the local visa office asks for it.

BUT - just in case you have to get it in the future -

You are right, if you follow the link for Maryland, it looks like the only way to get it is by applying in person. I thought I would have to fly to Maryland to get it NOT TRUE - CIC provides a BAD LINK. Took me a bit of time but found this -

You have to use their fingerprint form. You can call or write to request it. No harm in doing that now, that way you can save some time IF it is requested later.
