Jes_ON, am in the same situation as you. my work permit is also running out next week and my application is nowhere near being done. Not sure what I am going to do.....
Hey Julie, sorry I missed your post - what is happening with you?

My employer got a call this week from HRSDC saying that my LMO has been approved, so I'm feeling a lot better. I'm going to have to apply for the new work permit at the border, tho, so I won't fully relax until I have that new permit in hand...

I had to go to the border and change my status to visitor (which they were not really happy about doing for me). I'm still looking for a new job and stressing out about it.

FYI, I've always applied for my work permits at the border vs sending in the application (I've been on a NAFTA permit) and I like ti better that way. If there is something missing form your letter, depending on the officer, they will often give you feedback right there on what is missing, vs sending it in and not knowing. I had something missing from my letter once and the agent there just called my employer to confirm the info and I was able to get my work permit.

Julie - too bad, at least you have more time to look for a job. Just curious, when you changed to a visitor, what documentation did they require?

They wanted proof that I had applied for PR, proof of funds, and my current work permit. They also asked me if I had any family in Canada (that I could stay with), California, anywhere closer than where I am from (east coast). They asked me about my travel history, why I wanted to stay, what my plans were if they DID change my status, etc etc.

I received my AOR today by email .... what a relief :D

What I am wondering now is that ... my brother whose application they received 10 days before mine hasnt received his AOR yet ??

my brother checked with the bank and they said that the draft is cleared and he has confirmation from canada post as well that his package has been received at the consulate in Buffalo as well.

Any ideas??
