How many changes does CIC make in a year and are they actually effective??
I have heard of a few since I first started the process.

some of them have been quite effective.

but i think i would rather have a government that is constantly evolving and trying to make this better even if they fail once in a while at least they are trying different things, rather than never changing. lol

My cousin has told me this rumour about 3 months ago...apparently she got it from a friend of her dad who read it in a newspaper... : I'm not too sure about it, the guy who told her could not recall what newspaper and I went crazy searching up this rumour on the internet..but I could not for the life of me find out its origins, so ya, no idea if it's true or not.

I'd be a bit angry if it was true...because I've been waiting for 17 months now and my VO's processing time changed from 26 to 28 months. So if somebody got married after me and their husband came 22 months before mine...I'd be fuming!

Yeah. Amikety is right, for applications sent after Oct 2012, the conditional PR applies. And just means that you have to stay with that spouse/common-law partner for 2 years from date of landing or they may revoke your PR.

I heard something over the past weekend. (Maybe a rumor)

Someone I know currently waiting for their wife process informed me that coming this May 2014, (meant May 2013) new changes would come in affect.
Visa would be given in around 6 months' time, but the spouse would have to wait 2 years prior to obtaining their PR card. What's the truth behind this story and how many of you have heard this around?

FYI: I don't really believe in rumors but since the new legislation was processed to avoid immigration fraud this rumor could very well be true.

Logic says. What is the point of having your mate in Canada and not being able to enjoy the PR benefits for two years. It is absolutely ridiculous.

Yup! I don't believe a "word" of it. And from a "newspaper"?? Journalists can't even report on sports scores correctly, let alone complex changes to immigration law.
