Hello everyone,

I'm in need of some guidance regarding my PR application and the current status of my background check. I'm wondering if anyone can offer insights or suggestions on what steps I should take next.

Back in September 2021, I submitted my application for permanent residency. The background check process started in December 2021. However, it has been 17 months now, and my application seems to be stuck in the security screening phase. In early May, the Background check section of my GIC account displayed a message stating, "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information." But on May 9, the message changed to "Not Applicable."

After doing some online research, I came across the term "NA3," which some sources claim indicates the completion of the background check. However, I recently received a CSIS note, dated May 8, stating that my security screening is still in progress.

I don't believe this is a system glitch, but it has been two weeks now without any updates.

If anyone has experienced a similar situation or has any suggestions or advice to offer, I would greatly appreciate your input.

I ordered the CSIS note on April 20. It took me about three weeks to receive it.

Did you specifically ordered csis note? Is it different with gcms note?

I am in the same boat as you, I applied for the 'RNIP' program in October of 2021, and as of date my GCKey still shows background check being processed. I too had ordered the ATIP report from CSIS in Feb-23, where they confirmed the background check was still under way. Apparently, my work permit which expired in March has been extension until mid-July, that's when IRCC believes the PR process should be completed. Hang in there.
