Maplegal, they didn't tell me they did an extension on the medical for me. I remember reading on someone's post or on the Canadian immigration website that they started doing medical extensions if that is the only thing that will prevent you from getting your COPR because of it expiring, and they are just waiting for one thing from you. I think the only thing Immigration was waiting on for me was my husband's fingerprints being cleared from RCMP. He got his medicals done in Feb 2012 and we applied for the PR in April 2012. The fingerprints were sent in to RCMP in November 2012. The months went by and still waiting for the results. I was already thinking recently that even when we get the clearance cert. from RCMP, we will probrably have to do the medicals again cause it's been over a year...so the COPR was a surprise that we got it so soon all of a sudden when just few weeks ago I was still waiting to hear back from RCMP. They never did end up sending us any letter of the results, so I'm assuming they only sent it straight to immigration. I did put on the coverletter with the fingerprints to RCMP to send the results to Immigration so it'll be quicker. So yes, I'm assuming Immigration extended the medicals for us cause on the COPR letter they sent us it says medicals valid until Feb 2014 and that is also when we have to land by. I had no idea they extended it and also throughout the waiting with RCMP I did email immigration several times to let them know I was still waiting for the fingerprints clearance from RCMP...kept them in the loop so they knew I was serious about wanting to move to Canada. Also I had to ask Immigration in those emails to grant me an extension but not for the medicals because initially in November when they requested for the fingerprints to be done, they only gave us 30 days to do it. So when the time was coming up I had to ask for an extension which they granted. Since March I didn't hear back from Immigration eventhough I sent them an email asking for another extension. Then my last email to them 2 weeks ago, they replied back finally saying they already sent the COPR to us! So that was a big shocker.

Thanks for the info Lemondrop. That's really helpful to know they can and may extend medicals like that.

I've been waiting so long I'm going out of my mind. Hope I get my visa soon...
