Is there negative consequences if I come to Canada to study but then decide to withdraw from program and return to home country!

Hi,

My friend has received her study permit after a long wait, and she had initially moved on from the idea of studying in Canada. Now that it's approved and a viable option, we want to know if there could be any negative impact on her future Canadian visas, such as visitor visas if she comes to Canada in June, starts her program in September but then decides she’s not happy and withdraws from the program to return to her home country. I assume she would need to notify IRCC about her withdrawal and return home to have her visa officially cancelled.

If she does this, it's possible she might have more trouble obtaining a study permit to Canada in the future. Or there might be no impact. It's hard for any of us to say.

Note that if she arrives in June, there's a possibility CBSA may question why she is coming so early. It would be better for her to come in August.

Make sure she is aware that she cannot start working until she starts her classes in September.
