Is there any difference applying thru agent and by own??

Yes, the agent will cost you money and if you do it, it will cost you time.
In most cases, applying yourself is the best way to go (with the help available here, it is not that hard to do).
All I would say is if you have an abnormal set of circumstances you may need help.
But in my opinion, avoid an agent and ask questions in the forum.

We are using a agent. It costs a lot of money. If we had found this forum first we would have used this. :

I will echo what has been said, if you are comfortable with the process and have an uncomplicated case, you can do it yourself. Also, there's a lot the consultants can't do for you, you still end up having to get all your documents and you're still responsible for that is on the form. Finally, having a representative doesn't make the process any faster, IMHO, in fact it adds another layer of bureaucracy in there as you pass stuff off to the representative and they send it on.
