"May my spouse or common law partner and dependent children accompany me to Canada?

Yes. They may either accompany you to Canada or they may join you at a later date.

Family members are the immediate members of your family. Your spouse or common-law partner and your dependent children are your family members. A common-law partner is a person of the opposite or same sex who is currently cohabiting and has cohabited in a conjugal relationship with you for a period of at least one year."

Hi ramo
Thanks for your information. I knew about this info already. What I was looking was whether there is a separate "dependent" visa for student's spouse. TRV is only the way to enter Canada??
Like in USA, AUSTRALIA AND UK, once you are granted study permit, your spouse is automatically eligible to go with you. But Canada, you have to satisfy visa officer that she will return back and can't stay until your spouse's visa expire. Don't we have something like other countries where the student spouse can stay as long as their study permit expires??
Anyone please advise...
Thank

hey, this is my scenario too. my fiancee got accepted to university and i am applying as a common law dependent. we have to fill out the statutory declaration of common law union imm5409 and hopefully i will be able to join him in canada and i am planning to apply for a OWP.
"For spouses and common-law partners, Open Work Permits are generally issued with a validity date that coincides with the period of time that their spouse is permitted to work or study in Canada, as the case may be."
