I will appreciate your help if anybody can tell me is there any way i can get work permit before my case is processed?I have got health card in advance though, and I have few job offers in line but the Vegerville office has just forwarded my case(after 6 months there) to local CIC office Calgary which i hope may take few more months to get things done. Thats why i just want to explore how to get work permitor is it Impossible?thanks

yes you can, just apply & don't forget to mention it to the CIC office.

Contact CIC regarding your PR application, let them know in writing of your intentions of applying for a work permit.

when applying for the work permit, send another letter to CIC, letting them know that you have a PR application that is still not finalized (include your file/client number##), & that you'd like to use the time available to work, & when done, that you'll leave Canada, but to re-enter as a Permanent resident.

you should have no problem, unless you don't qualify for the job, or that there is Canadian citizen/PR's that qualify better than you for the job you seek. "Ask your future employer to make you a Kick ass letter, saying that whatever qualification he seeks for this job, cannot or is extreemly hard to find in other applicats" (a rare language, a rare experience, or whatever... )

Good luck.

I have no idea what you are talking about, but to work the OP would have to an employer who is willing obtain an LMO (Labour Market Opinion) HRSDC. The employer has to demonstrate that s/he has advertised the position for at least 2 weeks in the job bank, and there are no Canadians or PR available/qualified for the job. Then if the LMO is issued, you can apply at a port of entry for a work permit.

i agree with pmm. but as far as i know you can apply for open work permit when you have an application for PR. my situation though is different. i have an open work permit from my application of refugee. it will be expiring in 3 months. i wanna know how i can extend it or apply for another work permit that will be base on my application of PR inland?

thanks wawaprince, PMM and Richmond for the suggestions.you guys thought i have applied from outside.I think i have mentioned it in the subject line that i have applied from inside Canada. and i want to have a work permit(if possible)as I have a doctorate degree in natural sciences and want to join some job(for which i have had few offers already), rather than sitting and waiting for a year or two to get my PR application processed. so wawaprince what do you think how can i get work permit if i am already in Canada (in-land application for PR).thanks

i think you can send application for open work permit when the application for sponsorship is approved. i'm in the situation as yours. i'm a nurse. i do have work permit with my application of refugee but i need to renew it or wait for the approval so i'll get a new work permit.
