Is there a professional PR card mailing service?

Is there a professional postal service where one can have their permanent residence cards mailed to, who then forward them to whatever address we end up living at?

The idea is that we come to Canada to get our PR cards requested, and then return home to continue organising the move and end our current jobs.

We don't want to rely on "friends" or "acquaintances" for the card to be sent to and then rely on them to forward the PR cards to us, so, are there any professional services?

You can go to a UPS store and arrange mail forwarding with them. There are other similar companies that offer the same service. They give you a street address which you can give to immigration.

Thanks Leon! Is this something that can be arranged before arriving? Or have I misunderstood that one can do the formalities for the PR card at the border?

I haven't used this myself so I do not know if you can for example phone from outside Canada and arrange this beforehand. When you arrive, you will be asked for an address for your PR card. It is also an option to say that you do not have an address yet and will let them know. The next day, you can arrange the address and call immigration and give it to them.

If you are up front about staying in Canada with an expired status, you can list your address as being in Canada. There should be another question on there about your status in the country where you are living, if you are there with a one year visa or not and to that question you say no and then list your country of citizenship as the country you are applying through.

NEON PLEASE HELP ME

Hi Leon,

My family and I ( father, mother and two sons) applied for appeal. We first got the PR in 2002 and came in and out of canada but stayed here for MAX 4 months :(. In august 2011 we came to Canada with all of our things because we were determined to find a house and finally move here and were stopped at the airport because we did not meet the PR requirements ( We did not live here for the past 5 years yet, we have and renewed our PR) and were asked to leave or stay and appeal. So we decided to stay and appeal. Father and mother are both working in respectable firms and both sons are students in universities. Since the date we entered Canada, One son and father traveled for only one month and came back. Now we are in February 2014 and still no one contacted us about the date of the appeal. Our new lawyer said that it is because we are in Alberta and they thought we needed an appeal in french and it was hard to find french in Alberta. So we contacted them this month and told them that we are ready to see them in English.

Do you think we will win the appeal? We are very hopeful because we have been here for more than 2 years and a half and both parents are working with very good jobs. But still very scared because we have had the PR for a long time...

You should continue to stay and wait for your appeal. The odds of winning also depend on your reasons for not meeting the RO. Reasons that would be considered good and acceptable if you can prove them would be something like having taken care a sick relative or possibly having had medical problems of your own. Personal reasons like having had a really good job overseas or having chosen to study overseas or wanting your children to finish high school overseas would not be considered acceptable.

Having stayed 2 years after you were reported will not count towards the residency obligations if you lose your appeal. Being well settled now with jobs etc. may however give you some plus points.

Continuing with the original OPs thoughts ; Has anyone got their cards through this method? I landed in mid 2012, but haven't been back to get cards, because I work in the US. This option of getting a virtual address sounds feasible!
