Is there a possibility of me being denied entry at POE?

- I have Multiple Entry Tourist Visa valid until 2026
- Visited Canada twice already (both visits less than 6 months)
- On my 1st visit in 2018, I applied for a Working Permit from inside Canada while on Visitor Status. An employer gave me an LMIA. BUT I voluntarily WITHDREW my WP application due to a change of heart and personal reasons. It was NEITHER approved NOR denied.
- Visited again in 2019. No problem at all at the POE.
- Denied twice for a Student Permit; most recent one is August 2021

Now.. I’m planning to visit Canada again and see some family & friends. Planning to go on November. Staying for maybe 4-5months. I’m fully vaccinated with Pfizer. Do you think it’s safe for me to visit Canada considering my details above? I do have my own POF and business here at our country.

There is always a risk of being denied entry as a visitor. Given that you have applied to remain in Canada as a worker and student multiple times and have been denied very recently there can certainly be concerns about whether you are a genuine visitor. The fact that you have stayed in Canada for many months for almost 3 years in a row is also very unusual for a person who is not in retirement.

How about a visitor from an EU nation? I have a friend who wishes to visit for six months from France. He’s a French citizen so no visa required. What proof should he show at the border that he intends to return? And most importantly, should he buy a return ticket?

Same Situation here.

I've been denied an extent ion to my open work permit last year and because of that I respected the conditions of my status and left Canada. But in my passport i still have a valid TRV with V-1 Visitor written in it until 2022. I also have a PR in processing :).

I was thinking If I can enter Canada for for a few months towards the end of this year.

So far I thought of this to prove I'm a genuine visitor and intend to respect the conditions of a visitior:
- I hold a full-time job at my home country
- I never violated the conditions of my status before
- Book return ticket

Do you think that would be enough for the officer to let me enter? any one experienced this before?

Yes he should buy a return ticket. Your friend should be ready to show that he has the funds to support his travels for 6 months without working. Proof that he had a home to return to, why he is travelling for so long, etc. Really depends on his age and financial situation. Proof of travel medical insurance also is a bonus to show that he is covered if he needed medical care.

Are you planning on working while in Canada? Does your employer have offices in Canada? Any clients/customers in Canada? When did you extension get refused and when did you leave Canada?

Thank you for the response. He won’t be travelling in Canada per say. We will be hosting him and fully supporting him while he’s here. What sort of evidence could we give him to show if he’s asked?
