Good day sir/ma'am,

Please are you aware of the message below, I got the sms so I want to sure it came from Canada consulate home:

Attn: ALILI CHIMBUONYEUKWU, with passport number: *********. The Canadian Consulate home office has approved your application for an invitation to Canada via Air Canada‎ for a visa with bar-code number: BT*********. Your letter will be verified, signed and send to you once Air Canada send us your airline tracking code and sponsorship approvals with tax payment slip. Send us the passport copy and social security number of your referee who must be a Canadian or USA Citizen. Send all details to immigrations@ic-homeunit.com. For Canadian Consulate and Immigration.
Thank you."

Sequel to the sms I have sent details of my referee to the email address. Now the agent said Canada consulate/Air Canada want me to book my flight before my invitation/visa is sent to me. You know the booking will be done by the same agent.
Is the process right? Is the sms original?

Best Regards
Alili C-Onyeukwu.

Where are ic-homeunit.com based as looking in google seems Vancouver but given the domain used is .com is not i think a government organisation which i think would use gc.ca as part of the domain address so are they some sort of agency ?

Actual Canadian consulates by the way are in foreign countries not Canada either where there is no embassy or to supplement an embassy.

It seems very odd to book flight before visa plus Air Canada has nothing to do with someone getting a visitor visa where usually only proof of itinerary is required for the visa until you arrive when you might need show a return ticket. Plus who ever quotes bar code numbers or spells copyright as Copy Right on the website ?

Have you paid any money yet ? Have you checked how much a visa costs versus how much you are being asked for ?

Something does not seem right here !

it's a scam. no government agency will "text" you sensitive information or ASK for any personal information through sms especially tax info and SIN, obviously for security purposes. ignore that sms!!!!

SIN is sacred. you do not give it to anyone, or else you will become a victim of phishing, fraud and identity theft. and certainly they will not book you "before a visa".

lastly, spelling errors, odd sentence structures, and bad grammar all over!
