Is the "AOR" the letter we receive about sponsorship approval? (Or not?)

Sorry in advance for a dumb question...

Is the "AOR" the same thing as the letter we received when sponsorship has been approved by Mississauga?

Or is the AOR something we'll get later (from Buffalo), once they've started working on the application itself?

Nope, AOR is application of receipt.

It is sent by the visa processing office when they receive/start processing your file. However, not all offices send these letters.
